Muscles

In school we are learning about the body systems. Today I am going to tell you about the muscular system. Your muscles take up 50% of your body weight. Your muscles help your bones move. If you didn't have muscles you could not move.

The picture is the circulatory system, the digestive system, part of the skeletal system, part of the muscular system, and the respiratory system. I made this poster at school on Surgery Day.

  1. Great picture, Gavin! I am so glad that I have muscles, or else I might look like this:

I hope that "surgery day" at school doesn't mean that you all had surgery at your school or something. Ack!

    1. That picture was funny. Surgery day was about the body parts and we took a green piece of paper and we cut out a lot of the body parts and we glued them on the paper. We got to dress up as doctors

  2. A very complex drawing you made there, Gavin!
I am impressed with your knowledge of the human body. I have two questions for you.
    - In your opinion, what are the most important human organs without which life cannot be sustained?
    - Would you like to become a doctor when you grow up?
Thank you for sharing your learning with us. :)

    1. The most important human organs are heart, lungs, brain, and trachea. And all the other organs are important.

I don't want to become a doctor. I want to be a toy engineer.

    2. Gavin, what are some of your ideas for toys you would like to create?

  4. Hi, Gavin. I am trying to lose weight. Would it be a good idea for me to lose a lot of muscles since they weigh about half of my body weight? Why or why not?

    1. No it's not a good idea to lose muscles because you need them. You should lose fat you don't need fat.

  5. Gavin,
Our fifth grade students also learn about muscles. I like the idea of doing a surgery day. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Gavin,
I was happy to hear that you dressed up as surgeons, and no one really had surgery on Surgery Day! It looks like your poster covered many of the major human body systems! My 7th grade life science class will be learning about the human body systems too.

    I like your new blog!

  9. Your own blog!?!?! This is so cool,Gavin! Good job on the article and poster! Surgery Day sounds like a fun way to learn about body systems. (I was really glad to hear that no students were actually cut open though. That would have made for a very complicated permission slip!)

  10. Such a cool school day, Gavin! I am learning about the muscular system in my Biology2 class at the University of South Alabama right now...it is very complicated. Your project is an excellent opportunity to understand by 'seeing.' Keep up the good work!!
